The FDA announced that the shortage of semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic; Novo Nordisk) is resolved and now meets or exceeds both current and projected US demands. The FDA’s assessment confirms the end of the nearly 3-year shortage that began in early 2022 due to high demand of the glucagon-like peptide-1s (GLP-1).

Compound Pharmacies

As of April 22, 2025 503A Pharmacies are no longer able to make or sell compound semaglutide.  As of May 22, 2025 503B pharmacies are no longer able to produce or sell compound semaglutide.

What does this mean to us, as consumers?

As you might expect, there is a lawsuit that has been filed by the OFA, Outsourcing Facilities Association against the FDA.

There is no way to know what might come of future court proceedings, but what I would recommend is that if you've been considering Semaglutide.  Now is the time to purchase.

If the FDA gets their way, we will no longer be able to purchase compound Semaglutide after May 2025.  Your only option will be to purchase from Novo Nordisk with their direct to consumer pharmacy which will cost you $499 per month and you'll still need a doctor's prescription.
